Elizabeth 'Betty' J. (Cieniawa) Salhany

SALHANY, Elizabeth J. ‘Betty’ (Cieniawa), 93, formerly of West Warwick, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Green House Home in East Greenwich.

She was the beloved wife of the late Leo E. Salhany and the late John C. Klimowicz.  Born in West Warwick, a daughter of the late Joseph and Martha (Kulasewski) Cieniawa. She was a lifelong resident of West Warwick.

Elizabeth was an office clerk with the Eleanor Slater State Hospital in Cranston for eighteen years before retiring.  She was a lifelong communicant of Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, enjoyed summering on Buzzards Bay with her late husband Leo and traveling.

She is survived by three children, John C. Klimowicz of West Warwick, Carol Churchman and her husband Terry of Hardin, IL and Mary Hale of Eaton, CO; a brother, Joseph S. Cienava and his wife Jeanne of Coventry; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  She was the sister of the late Violet Glasser.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 17, 2023 from 9:30-10:30 am in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, 445 Washington Street, Coventry.  Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick.
