Elisa R. (Petrarca) Maciel, 70, of Coventry, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at West View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by the love of her devoted family.
Elisa was the cherished wife of Arthur Maciel, with whom she shared 52 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Providence, she was the beloved daughter of the late Anthony J. “Bucky” Petrarca, Jr. and Rose D. (DiFiore) Petrarca. Elisa grew up in the close-knit Natick neighborhood of Warwick before settling in Coventry, where she made a warm and welcoming home for her family.
She dedicated over three decades of service to the financial sector, working with integrity and care on the Management/Acquisition Team in the Finance Office of the former Industrial Bank, which later became Fleet Bank and ultimately Bank of America, before retiring in 2005.
Elisa’s heart belonged to her family. She found immense joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and most recently, her great-granddaughter. Her presence was a constant source of comfort and joy. Whether gathered around the table or enjoying a sunny day by the ocean, Elisa's warmth and gentle spirit made every moment special. The beach, in particular, was a place of serenity for her—a favorite retreat where she felt most at peace.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her husband, Arthur; her two sons, Thomas A. Maciel and Lionel Maciel and his wife Kristy Lee; her brother, Anthony J. Petrarca III; her four grandchildren, Thomas, Austin, Dylan, and Jaiden; and her great-granddaughter, Evie. She is also fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews.
Elisa was predeceased by her beloved sister, Louise M. “LuLu” Rossi, who passed just two months prior—a loss that weighed heavily on her heart.
In honoring Elisa’s wishes, funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, Rhode Island Chapter at www.cancer.org.
