Elena Galaktionova Obituary

Elena Galaktionova, age 85, was born on November 8th, 1939 in Ruzhino, Primorskiy Krai, Russia. She passed away August 30th, 2025 in Coventry Rhode Island, surrounded by her loved ones.

Elena passed away from a life long battle with heart problems that ultimately ended in CHF and terminal CAD. Despite her active nature, her last two months were spent in bed. Her final wish during those two months was to be provided MAID. Unfortunately, those wishes were not able to be fulfilled in the state of Rhode Island. Her life ended following 23 days of refusing any food.

Elena was the beloved daughter of Stephan Lushchevskiy and Paulina Lushchevsky (Zikova), and wife to the late Evgeny Kapsuletskiy. She is survived by her two daughters, Diana Furtado, Yana Aleksandrov and her grandchildren; Christina Alexsandrova, Elizabeth Alexandrova, Mariya Furtado, Kate Furtado and Morgan Furtado.

Elena was born in a small Russian village, where she experienced a simple but difficult life. She would often share fond memories of her father, grandmother and the farm she was raised on. After graduating high school, she moved to the city of Vladivostok and attended the Federal Institute of Engineering, where she received her Civil Engineering degree in 1961. Later on, Elena would go on to deliver her two daughters and remarry a blind man she met while suffering from appendicitis in the hospital.

Elena resided in Vladivostok until 2006, when she decided to take a very calculated and willful leap across the country. She landed in the quiet seaside town of Byala, Bulgaria, settling on the first floor of Sunny House, where the only thing between her and the ocean was a staircase. She spent 3 years enjoying her life on the black sea until she decided to once again uproot her life.

In 2009, Elena landed in Coventry, Rhode Island where her mission was to help her eldest daughter with her three children. At the age of 69, Elena had to relearn everything she knew from fundamental language skills to the culture. She adapted well and received her citizenship in 2016.

Throughout her journey on earth Elena became a spirited woman, with an undoubting love for life. She came up with any reason to celebrate, welcoming everyone over to eat, drink and revile in each other's company. She had desires and dreams that led her to where few would ever go. Despite her resilience and grittiness, she was a fair and generous woman. Elena guided her husband from one end of the earth to the other, providing him sight through experience. She gave everything she had to her children and their children, even when there wasn’t much to give. She was the definition of resilience, an icon and an irreplaceable figure who will live on in our hearts forever.

Her funeral services will be private.
