Elaine M. (Patnode) Furtado

Elaine M. (Patnode) Furtado, 75, passed away at her home on Friday, November 24, 2023.

She was the wife of the late George J. Furtado and daughter of the late Wesley H. Patnode and Hazel A. (Rivard) Patnode. She was the sister of the late Marcia L. Cota and half-sister of the late Dorothy Finnerty and Wesley J. Patnode. She is survived by many close friends, nieces and nephews.

Elaine was a lifelong resident of Scituate, RI. She was a 1970 graduate of the University of Rhode Island in education. She touched many lives throughout her 30 years of teaching students at Captain Isaac Paine School in Foster, RI.

Elaine loved nature, spending time in her yard and gardens where she enjoyed feeding the birds and watching Cranberry Brook throughout the seasons. She loved and nurtured many rescue dogs who became her family.

Elaine also loved to travel, loved watching the Patriots and she always enjoyed a glass of wine on any occasion especially with her Broomhead sisters. She will be missed.

Burial is private at the Rhode Island Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
