Eileen Gouveia Obituary

Eileen A. (Bromley) Gouveia, 85, of Warwick, RI passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA.

She was born in West Warwick, the daughter of the late Raymond C. and Dorothy (Colizza) Bromley.

Eileen was raised with meager beginnings. Lost both of her parents as a young girl.  Despite her challenges in youth, Eileen eventually achieved a successful life.  As a young women she married Thomas Gouveia and they raised two children. Along the way, Eileen and Tom started a successful jewelry business “Lyndale Jewelers” that thrived when Rhode Island’s jewelry industry thrived.  She also helped raise several Beagle hunting dogs and assisted with organizing the Beagle Rabbit Hunting Club in Warwick RI, where Tom was President.  After the passing of her husband Tom, Eileen established a new business in house cleaning and assisted with fast food service at Scarborough State Beach in Narragansett.  What she enjoyed most over the years, was hosting family parties.  Her Halloween parties were especially famous.  Eileen always handled all of the cooking which she enjoyed immensely and everyone loved.  She also loved to engage family and friends in dance and card playing. She organized a competitive card club for years, eventually earning her spot in the family Hall of Fame and her title as “Queen of Cards”.  Eileen had simple expectations in life and throughout always radiated fun and happiness wherever she went.

Eileen is survived by her life companion, Fernando P. Melo, and her many nieces and nephews Joyce Bromley, Anthony Bromley, Lisa Bromley, Lee Bromley, David Bromley, Michael Bromley, John Bromley, Robert E. Ansay, Michael T. Ansay, Tina M. Ansay, Tracy L. Ansay, along with Fernando’s children Steve Melo, Brian Melo, Kevin Melo, Debbie Melo and Sabrina DeRensis (not to be forgotten is the late Fernando Melo).
