Dorothea M. (Tavares) Couto

COUTO, Dorothea M. (Tavares), 98, of Coventry, passed away Tuesday morning, July 11, 2023 at Sunny View Nursing Home, Warwick.

She was the beloved wife of the late James F. Couto.  Born in West Warwick, a daughter of the late William and Suzanne (Medeiros) Tavares.  She was a resident of Coventry for most of her life.

Mrs. Couto was employed as a medical records technician with the Rhode Island Medical Center for many years until retiring.  She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church.   

She is survived by three children, Barbara L. Pelletier (Ron), Jane E. Knight (John) and James M. Couto (Loren); three grandchildren, Ronald Pelletier, Liisa Livingston and Christopher Knight and three great grandchildren, Olivia Pelletier, Isabella Pelletier and Brett Knight.  She was the sister of the late Eugene Tavares, Delpha Wolstenholme, Wilhelmina Mason and Urania Beckcom.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, Sunset Avenue, West Warwick.  Inurnment will be private in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.  Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Anthony Church, 10 Sunset Avenue, West Warwick, RI 02893 in her memory would be appreciated.  Information and condolences, please visit: www.PrataGallogly.com
