Donald A. Rocheleau, aged 89, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday morning, May 13, 2025, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Edith C. (Pare) Rocheleau, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. Born in West Warwick, he was the son of the late Arthur Z. and Blanche (Jarbeau) Rocheleau, and remained a lifelong resident of the town.
Mr. Rocheleau dedicated over fifty years of his life as a General Contractor, retiring in 2010. His passion for life extended beyond his professional achievements; he cherished the time spent at his summer home in Charlestown, RI, where he enjoyed the beach, boating, and actively contributing to the Charlestown-by-the-Sea Civic Association. An avid skier, he traversed the slopes of New England with his family for many years. He also enjoyed tennis and traveling, and was affectionately known as "Rocky" or “the Rock”, especially by his cherished lifelong friends in the “gang.”
Donald is survived by his wife Edith and their three daughters: Lynn M. Wright (Will), Dawn A. Joyal (Ron), and Julie G. Rocheleau (Chris Cousineau). He leaves behind three grandchildren: Steph Joyal, Kelsey Wright, and Christopher Wright, as well as his sister, Jeanne Sherman. He was predeceased by his siblings Cecile Rocheleau, Claire Delfino, and Richard Rocheleau.
His funeral will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, beginning at 9:00 a.m. from the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., held at St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. Friends and family may pay their respects during visiting hours on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
