David J. Moriarty, Jr.

Moriarty Jr, David J, 76, of W. Palm Beach, FL formerly of Cumberland, RI passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024.  Until his death, he resided at his W. Palm Beach home in Ironhorse Country Club W Palm Beach, FL.  He was the son of the late David Moriarty Sr. who passed away in 1985 and Eugenia (McCarthy) Moriarty who passed away in 2021.  His sister Julie Moriarty Khoury predeceased him in 2021 and is survived by her spouse Amin. 

David was born in Providence, RI July 11, 1948, and grew up in Cranston and then Cumberland, RI.  He attended Cumberland High School, graduating in 1967.  He attended Louisiana Polytechnic Institute and later transferred to, and graduated from, Roger Williams College in 1971. He worked for large restaurant supply companies in Rhode Island before moving to Clearwater, FL. In 1976.  There he continued his career in the restaurant supply business and started a restaurant supply company.  After selling the business, he moved to Ironhorse Country Club, W. Palm Beach in 1997 to support and care for his beloved Mother. 

David’s early love was being with the family on the shore in Sandhill Cove, RI.  There he grew his strength and became an excellent swimmer.  In the winter, he was on the ice at Meshanticut Lake playing hockey.  He continued hockey throughout his junior and senior high school years, playing games all over New England, bringing home several regional trophies.  Dave’s smile, laughter and distinctive voice will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved sister Denise (spouse Bruce) Thayer of Hobe Sound, Florida, two loving nephews, Rafe Thayer and David (spouse Kaycee) Thayer of the San Francisco Bay area.  His favorites, Riley and Kai Thayer his grandniece and grandnephew were the lights of his life.    He loved and touched the lives of his many beloved cousins, friends and relatives.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 9:30-10:30AM in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence St., West Warwick, RI 02893.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00AM in the Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Dr., Cranston, RI.  Burial will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, 73 Church St., Cranston, RI.
