David M. Casimiro

CASIMIRO, David M., West Warwick Fire Department (Ret.), 76, of Coventry, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, August 31, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at home.

He was the beloved husband of Jo-Ann (Klimek) Casimiro, they had been married for twenty three years.  Born in Providence, a son of the late Mario and Bertina (Castro) Casimiro.  He was a lifelong resident of the Pawtuxet Valley area.

David was a volunteer firefighter with the Town of West Warwick for several years before being appointed full time to the department in 1973.  He served for twenty years before retiring in 1993.  For many years he was a plasterer with the Plasterers Union Local # 534, enjoyed fishing and he and his wife, Jo-Ann, loved dancing.  He was a former member of the West Warwick Firefighter Union Local 1104 and loved his dog, Duke.

Besides his wife he leaves three children, Hazel Cronister and her husband Wes of Suffolk, VA, Sheila Tousignant and her husband Gene of Virginia Beach, VA and David M. Casimiro, Jr. of North Smithfield; two siblings, Cynthia E. Hinrichs and her husband Roger of Coventry and Eric Casimiro and his wife Shannon of Cottonwood, AZ; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  He was the brother of the late Mark Casimiro.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 9:00-10:30 am in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, 445 Washington Street, Coventry.  Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to Beacon Hospice Care, 1150 Ten Rod Road, Suite A-205, North Kingstown, RI 02852 in his memory would be appreciated.  Information and condolences, please visit: www.PrataGallogly.com
