BRINDAMOUR, David C., 86, of Hope, previously of West Warwick, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024 at Morgan Health Center surrounded by his loved ones. Born in West Warwick, a son of the late Ovide J. and Catherine D. (Fearns) Brindamour.
He was the beloved husband of the late Lilla M. “Lee” (Roy) Brindamour, who passed away in 2021. They were high school sweethearts and partners in life throughout sixty years of marriage.
He served as Treasurer for the Town of West Warwick for more than a decade and was an advocate on the Town’s Library Board. David was the General Manager of the family-owned business, Brindamour’s Oil Service, on Providence Street.
A hero not only to his family, David was an Army veteran with 45 years of service dedicating 36 years to the National Guard Reserves supporting the 118th Military Police Battalion based in Warwick, Rhode Island. He served a tour of duty in Desert Storm and retired Lieutenant Colonel in 2000. After retirement he served as the National Archive Manager for the Rhode Island National Guard.
David was a philanthropist and an active member of the American Legion Post 2, Elks, Jaycees, and Junior Achievement. An avid golfer, he took pleasure in running golf leagues. He enjoyed time with his family and friends, harvesting his garden, and anything outdoors. He could frequently be found in a horseshoe or cornhole competition.
He leaves three daughters, Robin E. Brindamour, Rebecca J. Treco and Dawn M. Brindamour; four grandchildren, Kimberly, Shane, Dylan, and Ella; two great grandchildren, Skylar and Steven Jr. and a brother, Peter L. Brindamour. He was the brother of the late Brian M. Brindamour, John P. Brindamour and Brenda J. Carey.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 13, 2024 from 12:00-1:00 pm in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick with a funeral home service at 1:00 pm followed by a burial procession to Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter with military honors.
