David Joseph Breig, 65, passed away on July 15th, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to bring smiles to those who knew him.
Born in Rhode Island, Dave later made his home in New Hampshire before settling in Minnesota in 1998, where he remained for the rest of his life.
Dave had a passion for sports that knew no limits. Hockey and golf were his favorites, but if there was a game on—whether it was table tennis, Little League baseball, or just about anything else—you could count on him to be watching. His enthusiasm for sports extended beyond being a fan. He proudly coached many of his son's teams, becoming not only a mentor but also a friend to countless young athletes. He built lasting relationships with the players and their families, leaving a lasting impression beyond the final whistle.
He was quick-witted, smart, and had a gift for making people laugh. At work, he jokingly referred to himself as the "Ambassador of Fun." While his official title was Vice President of Engineering, he considered spreading laughter and keeping things fun an equally important part of the job.
Outside of work, Dave found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He took pride in keeping the yard looking its best and genuinely enjoyed mowing the lawn. Some of his family's most treasured memories were made on camping trips, where evenings before bed almost always ended the same way. With a smile, he would begin, "Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, when Daddy was just a little baby boy..." No matter where the story went from there, those familiar words became a cherished family tradition that will be remembered for generations.
Dave is predeceased by his parents, Donald J. Breig and Leonora P. “Lee” (Clancy) Breig.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, Hannah Breig, Tamara Breig Chapman, and Jacob Breig; his cherished grandchildren, William, Brooks, Taylor, and Poppy; his brothers, John and Robert Breig; and many extended family members.
We will miss his laughter, his stories, his endless love of sports, and the way he could make ordinary moments something special. Every campfire, every hockey game, every freshly mowed lawn, and every story that begins, "Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, when Daddy was just a little baby boy..." will remind us that love lives on in the memories we share. We will carry those memories—and him—with us always.
