BLAIS, David L. 63, of West Warwick, R.I. passed away of cancer on Monday, July 11, 2022 at the Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center.
Born in Chicopee, Massachusetts, he was the beloved son of Estelle B. (Heroux) Blais of West Warwick and the late Henry L. Blais, Jr.
David served 13 years in the U.S Air Force as a Combat Systems Control Specialist, where he was able to take additional educational courses in computer systems development and leadership. Among his many awards and recognitions include the AF Commendation Medal, the AF Good Conduct Medal, the AF Longevity Service Award, the National Defense Service Award, the AF Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, the AF Training Ribbon, the AF Outstanding Unit Award, and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.
After his military service, David worked in a variety of other occupations including lead engineer at GE SpaceNet and data technician at ATT Tridom in Georgia. He was fortunate to travel and live in multiple locations including Nevada, England, Georgia, and Texas, before returning home to Rhode Island. Traveling afforded him the ability to spend dedicated time with each of his siblings in turn. He was known for his love of cooking, quirky sense of humor, and his pride in being the only one in his family to retain his full head of dark black hair! His mother is fond of reminding his siblings that “David was the cutest of my 7 babies!”
Besides his mother he leaves two sons, David K. Blais (Kasey Blais, wife) and Andrew Blais; six siblings, Gregory Blais, Thomas Blais, Kevin Blais, Linelle Blais, Nadine Huber (Blais), and Jason Blais; and three grandchildren, Layton Blais, Paisley Blais, and Palmer Blais.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Christ the King Church, Legris Avenue, West Warwick. This will be followed by interment with military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Warwick. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in David’s name to HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center at 1085 North Main St, Providence, RI 02904 or online at hopehealthco.org.
