Claudette I. (Johnston) Erban

ERBAN, Claudette I., (Johnston), 83, formerly of Warwick passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the Greenville Center.

She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond E. Erban, who passed away in 2013.  Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late William and Odette (Artaud) Johnston, and stepdaughter of Pete Arvanitis.  She was a resident of Warwick for most of her life.

A graduate of Central High School in Providence, Mrs. Erban was very active in reunion committee planning there, and maintained many lifelong friendships.  She was a library clerk with the Conimicut Library, and later at the Warwick Public Library for many years, until retiring in 2002.  She loved spending time with her family and was an avid reader.

She was the loving mother of Jeanne C. DeSantis and her husband David of Warwick, and stepmother of Linda L. Czop and her husband Gregory of West Warwick, and Dianne M. Varr (Thomas Tetrault) of Georgetown, MA. Cherished grandmother of eleven and great-grandmother of twelve.  Caring sister of James Johnston (Shirley) in Alabama and Denise Champlin (Michael) of Narragansett, and half-sister of Heather Johnston of Virginia. She was the mother of the late Michael R. Erban, stepmother of the late Raymond E. “Skip” Erban, Jr., and sister of the late Stephen Johnston (Martha).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 10:30 am in St. Joseph Church, 854 Providence Street, West Warwick (all State Covid-19 guidelines will be observed).  A livestream of her Mass will be shown via Gallogly Family Funeral Homes Facebook page. Due to the pandemic, interment will be private for the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to Operation Starfish (c/o Church of the Nativity, 6400 Nativity Lane, Burke, VA 22015, nativityburke.org) in her memory would be appreciated.
