MATHEWS, Celia J. (Magnatta), 88, of Rockwood Avenue, Cranston, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, August 5, 2021 at Brookdale South Bay in South Kingstown.
She was the beloved wife of the late Robert L. Mathews, Sr. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Joseph and Assunta (DeChristino) Magnatta.
Her passion in life was to make everyone around her happy. Her devotion to her children and grandchildren provided all with years of great memories. She had lifelong friends of over 70 years, The Peppy Pals, who proved that love and friendships can last. She was able to satisfy her last wish and meet her great grandson prior to her passing.
Mrs. Mathews was a communicant of St. Rocco's Church.
She is survived by her loving sons, Robert L. Mathews, Jr. and his wife Clare of West Greenwich and Michael K. Mathews and his wife Linda of Foster; her cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Jodi-Lynn, Callie, Justin, Mitchell and Michael and two great grandchildren, Nolan and Rogan. She was the beloved mother of the late Joseph C. Mathews and sister of the late Marlene Wilbur and Caroline Marzilli.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 11:00 am in St. Rocco's Church, 931 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Interment will be private.
