Catherine A. Wallace, 79, of Plainfield Pike, Greene, passed away Friday, July 10, 2026, with her loving son, by her side. She fought courageously, until the end, doing so with tremendous strength, dignity, and grace.
She was the beloved wife of the late Richard S. Wallace, with whom she shared sixty-two years of devoted marriage before his passing in 2024. Born in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Catherine (Stasio) Cherubino and Fred Cherubino.
She leaves a son, Ronald F. “Ronnie” Wallace, a granddaughter, Rene C. Young, sisters, Theresa Mazzenga and Phyllis Decesare along with a brother, Fred Cherbuino. She was the mother of the late Richard F. Wallace,
Cathy graduated from CCRI, with a nursing degree as a Registered Nurse, working in many health care facilities throughout her career. She particularly liked working with the elderly and spent the better portion of her career working in nursing homes. She was highly respected for her empathy and compassion towards the patients she cared for.
Mom loved the beach and sitting outside in the sun watching her late husband and son tend to the flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed watching the many birds that would come to the feeders each day. Her pets always had a special place in her heart. She had many basset hounds and cats during her lifetime that all got "spoiled" with love and attention. Cooking was also a big passion for her, and she was very good at it! Very proud of her Italian heritage, she loved spending time in the kitchen cooking for her family. Any sweet confections, she was known for devouring – desserts were always a priority morning, noon, and night!
She also believed in giving back to individuals, local communities, and charities that helped the less fortunate. For over thirty-five years, she had been a monthly contributor to the St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.
We would like to extend our thanks to the doctors and nurses at Rhode Island Hospital who took great care of my Mom. Special thanks to nurses, Lexi and Derek, who went above and beyond.
Above all, her life’s biggest enjoyment was the love she had for her family. Her husband, Richard, sons, Richard, and Ronnie, along with her granddaughter, Rene, were her pride and joy.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 9:00 AM from the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence, Street, West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence Street, West Warwick. Interment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery,
