Bernice A. (Gouveia) Hayes

Bernice A. (Gouveia) Hayes, 90, of Coventry, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 16, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at Riverview Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center.

She was the beloved wife of the late John R. Hayes, who passed away in 1995.  Born in West Warwick, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Sarah (Costa) Gouveia.  She was a resident of Coventry and West Greenwich for most of her life.

Bernice was employed in retail sales with various stores for many years until retiring.  She loved spending time with her family and traveling to New Hampshire where she loved the outdoors.  Her many enjoyments included singing, playing the piano, dancing and listening to all sorts of music.

She is survived by her three children, Deborah Hayes, Laurie Hayes and Kevin Hayes; a granddaughter, Kristy Lynn Hayes and two sisters, Barbara Jeffrey and Marilyn O’Connor.
