Angus Donald Macleod III, “Gus”, 89, of West Warwick, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022 at home surrounded by loving family.
He was the beloved husband of Claire A. (Giroux) MacLeod married for 53 years. Born in East Greenwich, Angus was the son of the late Angus D. MacLeod Jr. and Bertha (Perry) MacLeod. He was a resident of West Warwick for 55 years.
Angus was employed as a supervisor for General Dynamics in Quonset for 25 years before retiring. He was a proud Korean War Marine Corps Veteran. His commitment to service continued throughout his life. He, along with his wife Claire, worked tirelessly bringing food and medical equipment to the sick and needy through the Kent County branch of International Sunshine Society. Affectionately known as “Coach Gus”, he spent over thirty-three years working with the West Warwick girls’ softball league. He was a Mason at the Ionic F. & A.M. Lodge in Greene, RI and like a true Marine, Angus was a hard worker who put his boots to the ground every day running his own real estate business for 25 years and working for Paul Baily’s until the age of 82. His biggest devotion, however, was to the love of his life – his wife Claire.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Alison A. MacLeod-Kempski and husband Steven of West Warwick; a son, John F. MacLeod and wife Janice of Foster; four step-children, Linda, Jackie, Michele and Scott; ten grandchildren, Abby, Jillian, Shane, Ryan, Ariane, Derek, Chantelle, Daniel, Brianna and Colton along with ten great grandchildren, Madison, Kyle, Jack, Joey, Tyler, Cristian, Branson, Audrey, Conner and Avery. He was the brother of the late Bertha MacLeod Stanton, Maida MacLeod Barrington and Arlene Evelyn MacLeod.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 854 Providence Street, West Warwick.
