Alfredo R. Silva

Alfredo R. Silva, 89, formerly of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, April 14, 2026 at Brentwood Nursing Home, Warwick.

He was the beloved husband of Maria P. (Tadeu) Silva, they had been married for 56 years. Born in Ribeira das Tainhas, Sao Miguel, Azores, a son of the late Antonio R. and Beatrice S. (Ferreira) Silva. He spent his childhood in the Azores before marrying Maria in Vila Franca in 1969.  Together, they decided to move to the United States and resided in West Warwick before settling in Cranston, where he was a resident since 1974.

Mr. Silva was employed at the former Snap-It Electric and Victor Electric for many years before retiring.

After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, cultivating his fruit trees and grapes vines and spending time with family.  He was proud of his Portuguese heritage and enjoyed reading the Portuguese newspaper and watching the Portuguese channels on tv.  He had a sweet tooth and Queijadas da Vila, Pasteis de Natas, Ferraro Rocher chocolates, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and french cruller donuts from Dunkin were some of his favorite treats.

Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Alfred Silva and his wife Sharifa of San Francisco, CA and Joseph T. Silva and his wife Sarah of Coventry; three grandchildren, Shaan, Jacob and Emma and five siblings and their spouses, Maria Adelaide Resendes (Manuel), Hildeberto Silva (Jorgelina), Pedro Silva (Aura), Maria de Fatima Pacheco and Antonio Silva (Theresa). He was the brother of the late Maria Jose Cardoso.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 9:00–10:30 AM in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Anthony Church, Sunset Avenue, West Warwick. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick.
