Alfred Darcy Obituary

Alfred E. Darcy, age 95, passed away peacefully in his home, of natural causes, on October 30, 2025.

Born and raised in Rhode Island, Alfred was predeceased by his brother Edward, sister Mary, and sister Eileen. He is now reunited in heaven with his beloved wife of 60 years, Carol, who also passed away peacefully at home in September 2019.

Alfred is survived by his children - Fraternal twins son Peter and daughter Maryanne, his daughter Jean, and his daughter/granddaughter Christina, whom he selflessly adopted at the age of five. He was a proud grandfather to Shane, Erin, Kai, Casey, Raymond, and Sheena and Tyler. Alfred cherished every moment spent with the loving children and grandchildren who visited him.

Alfred spent many years in management at Verizon, formerly New England Telephone, before his retirement. After retiring from Verizon, he worked for a time in the Coventry School System. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era.

He loved to travel and had many adventures across the United States in an RV with Carol and their grandchildren. His journeys took him to Japan twice, and to Ireland — the homeland of his parents — with his grandson Shane. One of his last travel moments was having his daughter and caregiver Christina take him on a Panama Canal cruise, fulfilling a lifelong dream of his fathers, which then became a dying wish of his own.

In his later years, Alfred was a devoted member of Saints John and Paul Church, attending as often as he could. He was known for his humor, storytelling, and love of games — especially cards and Scrabble and also enjoyed reading, watching movies and the Patriots games. He was happiest surrounded by his family, friends, and his beloved pets - cat Misty and grand-dogs Piper and Lilly.

Alfred will be remembered as a jolly, kindhearted man — a true gentleman who set the bar high and was, simply the best father anyone could ever ask for.

An invitation only memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick.

Praise to you, God, the Holy Spirit, and Consoler. For Your unfailing power that gave Alfred strength in his bodily weakness. Blessed be to God who heals us. And May Alfred rest in peace now with his Wife Carol, in Heaven. Amen
