Alan “Al” Peter Coit, 69, of Coventry, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, November 11, 2025, at home peacefully. He was the beloved husband of Judith A. (King) Coit.
Born in West Warwick, he was the son of the late Norman L. and Rose G. (Caron) Coit. Al was a resident of Coventry for most of his life and took great pride in being part of the community he called home.
Al, also affectionately known as “Owl” or “Pepe”, worked for many years as a fire alarm inspector with ADT, now Johnson Controls, before retiring in 2023. Earlier in his career, he was employed for two decades at General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division. While working he developed many lasting friendships and a reputation for his strong work ethic and attention to detail.
A man of many passions, Al found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved coaching his children’s sports teams and was a constant presence at local games and events. He enjoyed his classic rock music and loved to attend his favorite bands concert's. Whether cooking for family, saltwater fishing, playing cards, listening to classic rock, or cheering on his favorite New England sports teams, Al embraced every moment. Above all, he was a devoted and loving father who cherished time spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Judith, he is survived by his cherished grandson, Andrew Alan Coit, and his former wife, Crista Mills, and her husband, Cliff. He was predeceased by his two beloved children, Andrew Coit and Samantha Coit.
