Stephen C. Arthur

ARTHUR, STEPHEN C. 79, of Jamestown, RI, passed away peacefully with his family at his side, on June 27, 2017, after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Doris (DeCiantis) Arthur; his children, Katherine Arthur, of Cranston; Christopher MacGregor, of Seattle, WA; Deborah Byrne of Coventry; and Richard & Lisa Rowey, of East Greenwich; his grandchildren; Derek Byrne, Brianna Rowey, Zoë MacGregor, Rachel Rowey, & Lindsay MacGregor.  Steve is also survived by his brother, Greg Arthur & his wife Deborah; and his sister, Merrill Tanner & her husband David. Steve was the son of the late Harold & Evelyn (Cobb) Arthur, of Great Island, RI.

Steve’s greatest love was his family.  He was a devoted husband, father, & grandfather.

Steve attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Northeastern University.

He was an electrical engineer, and owned his industrial control systems company, Arthur Electric, for 35 years until his retirement

Steve & Doris were avid boaters, and enjoyed many years on the water aboard their Mainship trawler, Downtime.  Steve served as commander for the board of Greenwich Bay Sail & Power Squadron; he served in the U.S. Coast Guard; he and Doris were active members of the East Greenwich & Newport Yacht Clubs, and much more.

He was a member of the Jamestown Chapel.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 10:00-11:30 am at the Henault-Gallogly Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick with a funeral service to be held at 11:30am. Burial service to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 70 Church St, West Warwick, RI.
