Shirley I. (Preiss) Deighan

DEIGHAN, Shirley I., (Preiss), 90, formerly of Cranston, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Riverview Healthcare Community, Coventry.

She was the wife of the late John E. Deighan, Sr., who passed away in 1974.  Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Elsie (Solbrig) Preiss.

Mrs. Deighan loved taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Her enjoyments included cooking, bingo, crafts and when she was younger, dancing.

She is survived by her children, John E. Deighan, Jr. of Coventry, Patricia McDermott and her husband Brian of Coventry, Sharon Desrosiers and her husband Dwain of Coventry and Irene Cicerone of Warwick; ten grandchildren, Dwain Desrosiers, Jr., Crystal Carpenter, Frederick Thompson, Heather Budziak, Edward J. Deighan, Jenna-Marie Deighan, Sean McDermott, Alyssa, Christa-Elizabeth and Bethany Cicerone and nine great grandchildren.  She was the mother of the late Shirley E. Deighan and sister of the late Marie Deighan, Dorothy Pecchia, Virginia Jackson, Evelyn McAuslan, Phyllis Clesas, Arleen Van Horn and John Preiss.

Her funeral service will be held Friday, April 26, 2019 at 9:30 am in the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy Street, West Warwick followed by interment in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  Visiting hours Thursday 5:00-7:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Heart Association, RI Chapter, One State Street, Suite 200, Providence, RI 02908 or HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 in her memory would be appreciated.
