Roy E. Malinowski, 93, Captain United States Army, Retired died peacefully after a short illness, June 28, 2019 in Ventura, California. He was a 41 year resident of Ventura, after moving from Potomac, Maryland.
A decorated Veteran of the United States Army seeing action in both WWII and Korea, in addition to other awards, Mr. Malinowski was the recipient of The Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster for heroism, The Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster for wounds suffered in Action, and The Silver Star for Gallantry. While recovering from extensive injuries at Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital in Washington, D.C., he met and married Juley Anne (Murphy) of Newport, R.I.
They were married for 50 years before her death in 2003. Mr. Malinowski received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 1958 and a graduate degree in Computer Programming from the University of San Francisco in 1970.
He was predeceased by his wife Juley and survived by six children: Teresa (Paul) Karamourtopoulos of Methuen, MA, Sandra (John) Harrison of Butler, IN, Susan (Eric d 2010) Dohrmann of New Bern, NC, Edward Malinowski of Camarillo, CA, Donald (Jill) Malinowski of Centreville, VA, David (Lance) Malinowski of Ventura and Long Beach, CA; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition Mr. Malinowski is survived by his sister, Joyce (Digby d 2019) Rowe of Ventura, CA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Committal Service with military honors at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2019 in St. Columba Cemetery Chapel, 465 Brown’s Lane, Middletown, RI followed by burial in the Murphy Family Plot at St. Columba Cemetery.
