Armand O. "Sunny" Guertin, Jr.

Armand O. “Sunny” Guertin, Jr., 90, died Wednesday at home.  He and his wife, the former Rita T. (DeTonnancourt) Guertin, were married for 69 years on April 5.  Born in West Warwick, he was the son of the late Armand O. and Stella (Bouchard) Guertin.

Armand and his wife owned and operated the former Guertin’s Jewelers in Arctic, established by his grandfather in 1894, until 1980.  He was a  West Warwick Fire Department volunteer for 35 years as well as a former president of the West Warwick Jaycees and JCI Senator.

He had a lifelong interest in history and was a member, for more than 70 years, of the I.B.B.A., an informal group of friends who met as Boy Scouts in Arctic Troop 449.  Armand was a loving husband, wonderful father, proud grandfather and loyal friend.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mikki (husband Andy) Catanzaro of West Warwick and Marley (wife of the late Dan) Robertson of Freeport, Ill; a son, Michael (wife Michelle) of Coventry; six grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 10:0 am in Christ the King Church, 120 Legris Ave., West Warwick.  Interment will be private.  Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers donations to one’s favorite charity in his memory would be appreciated.  Information and condolences please visit: www.henault-gallogly.com
