SOLTYS, Stasia M., passed away peacefully on February 5th, surrounded by her family. Daughter of John and Anna Soltys, she is survived by daughters Mary Beth Johnson, Cindy Cooke and Lynda White; grandchildren Amanda Conaci, Sarah Cooke and Ron Cooke; sons-in-law Ronnie Cooke and Jeff Wood. Stasia is predeceased by her siblings, her daughter Lucia Reilly, grandson Shamus Reilly and son-in-law Paul Johnson.
Born with very limited eyesight, her vision was restored as a young woman as a recipient of one of the first cornea transplants in the nation; an experience that shaped her values and sense of gratitude. Family, faith, friendship and animals were the cornerstones of her life. She believed that food was love and no one left her table hungry, a commitment and talent that would lead her to a top ten placement at a 1950s Pillsbury National Bake-Off Contest. Stasia was active in the Lions Club and her church (OLC).
Stasia spent the last few years in the compassionate care of St. Elizabeth's Home where the loving staff became her second family - for which Stasia's immediate family is eternally grateful.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 10:00 am from the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy Street, West Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, 445 Washington Street, Coventry.
