Sister M. Lucien Tanguay, RSMAugust 3, 1931 ~ April 2, 2017 (age 85)
Tanguay, Sister M. Lucien, a Sister of Mercy, 85, entered eternal life on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Mount St. Rita Health Centre in Cumberland.
Sister was born in Cumberland, to parents, Lucien and Mathilda (Vaguener) Tanguay. She was the sister of Rita (Tanguay) Kelly who resides in Florida.
Sister Mary Lucien entered the novitiate of the Sisters of Mercy in 1949 and professed her vows in August of 1955.
A teacher at heart, Sister was dedicated to the education of primary school children. Prior to her formal retirement, Sister tutored children in mathematics. She likewise delighted in visiting the homebound parishioners in her Warwick neighborhood and responding to the needs of her Mercy Sisters. She was true to her motto: “Never Count the Cost.”
We remember our Sister Lucien as a very unassuming, but a most kind and generous woman of Mercy. In the words of a dear friend, “Sister Lucien was a treasure, a joy to be with, one who always put others first.”
