Robert S. Tucker

TUCKER, Robert S. (former State Representative District 41), 96, formerly of West Warwick and Narragansett, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017 at St Elizabeth Manor, Bristol.

He was the beloved husband of the late Anna M. (Moskalyk) Tucker, former Director of the RI Department of Elderly Affairs.  Born in Ways Station, GA, he was the son of the late John L. and Laura (Spencer) Tucker.  He was a resident of West Warwick for many years before moving to Narragansett in 1993.

Mr. Tucker was the owner and operator of the Family Store in Crompton from 1954 to 1968 when he became the Business Agent for the RI Council 94 AFSCME for many years before retiring.  He was first elected to the House of Representatives District 41 in 1972 serving twenty years and during his tenure was the Chairman of the House Finance Committee.  He was a WW II Navy Veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Maryanne T. Ziegler of Bristol and Wallys D'Agostino and her husband Edward of North Providence; four grandchildren, Darius Lee Goff, Anne Boucher, Jennifer Arkuss and Edward D'Agostino and six great-grandchildren. He was brother of the late Mary Hendrick, Anne Crews and John L. Tucker, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017 at 11:00 am in St. Peter’s by-the- Sea Episcopal Church, 72 Central St., Narragansett.  Interment will be private.  Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers contributions to the Anna Tucker Women's Athletic Scholarship, c/o URI Foundation, 79 Upper College Road, Kingston, RI 02881 in his memory would be appreciated.  Arrangements with HENAULT-GALLOGLY, Funeral Directors.
