Maurice G. Champagne

CHAMPAGNE, Maurice G., 95, of East Greenwich formerly of West Warwick, passed away Wednesday morning, April 13, 2016 at home. 

He was the beloved husband of Lorraine M. (Ducharme) Champagne, they had been married for 63 years.  Born in West Warwick, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Laura (Lacroix) Champagne.  He resided in West Warwick before moving to East Greenwich in 1999.

Mr. Champagne was a house painter for 30 years with Cayouette & Yarbourgh Painting then worked at Kent Hospital in the maintenance department for 20 years before retiring.  He was a WW II Coast Guard Veteran, a communicant of SS. John and James Parish, a member of the Sgts. Langevin & Boudreau VFW Post 449 and enjoyed bowling.

Besides his wife he leaves two sons, David L. Champagne and his wife Deborah of Coventry and Daniel Champagne of East Greenwich; two daughters, Denise Petrarca of Coventry and Dale Champagne of Woonsocket; two grandchildren, Diana Champagne of Ledyard, CT and David Champagne of Las Vegas, NV and a great grandson, JC Wittig.  He was the brother of the late Doris Lambert and Lauda Boudreau.

His funeral will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 9 am from the HENAULT – GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in SS. John and James Parish of St. John the Baptist Church, 20 Washington St., West Warwick followed by military honors.  Interment will be at a later date.  Visiting hours Friday 4:00-7:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hope Hospice & Palliative Care RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 in his memory would be appreciated.  Information and condolences, please visit:www.henault-gallogly.com
