Mary E. (Scoville) Keegan

KEEGAN, Mary Edith (Scoville), of South Kingstown, RI and formerly of West Hartford, CT died at her home on Monday, July 18, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Lawrence Keegan, Jr. who died in 2009. Born in Torrington, CT she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Prudence (Cowell) Scoville. 

Mary graduated from University of Connecticut where she also received a master’s degree in social work. A licensed social worker with a focus on administration and geriatrics, Mary spent over twenty five years in the field, including her tenure as Executive Director of St. Agnes Home in West Hartford, a residential care facility. Mary retired to Rhode Island, where she was an active member of the Southwinds Community, including the sunshine and book clubs. She enjoyed spending time at the beach and with her family, especially her twin granddaughters. 

Mary is survived by her daughter, Melissa Keegan Gill, and her husband Feidlim of Narragansett, and their two children, Hayden and Lauren. She was the sister of the late Paul H. Scoville.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 11:00 am in St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Church, 72 Central Street, Narragansett. Interment will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
