Marguerite E. (DiMartino) Auger, 83, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 with her son, Joe, by her side.
Born to Dominic and Elissa (Petrarca) DiMartino on July 4 1933 in West Warwick R.I., she was also sister to Elaina and the late Michael DiMartino.
Married soon after graduating West Warwick High School and through into the 70’s, was a Military wife who took care of her three children, Diane, John and Joseph.
Upon divorcing in 1977, proceeded to enroll in classes at CCRI in Warwick R.I. with a focus on the performing arts and made her mark as an actress in numerous stage plays and performances as part of the CCRI Players. She received the Irene Ryan Award while enrolled there for her stunning and much talked about work as an older student working with much younger colleagues. She graduated with an Associate’s degree in Fine Arts with High Honors in 1986. She also branched out into film work as an extra in numerous movies, most notably, as an on screen presence alongside Annabeth Gish in Mystic Pizza, (filmed locally in Rhode Island and Massachusetts).
She moved away from Rhode Island to live with her daughter Diane for a time and then moved to South Carolina to live with her son John until her final move back to Rhode Island where she was taken care of at the Warren Skilled Nursing and Rehab facility in Warren RI.
She is survived by her sister, Elaina; her daughter, Diane Jones; sons, John and Joseph Auger; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
As Mom just missed her 84th Birthday on July 4th, we will be celebrating it anyway so come for cake and celebrate with us! It was close enough!
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 pm in the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy Street, West Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited to attend committal prayers on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 11:00 am directly at St. Joseph Cemetery, Gough Avenue, West Warwick.
