Josephine "Jo" (Zawada) Zielski

Josephine “Jo” (Zawada) Zielski, 96, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Rockville, CT passed away surrounded by her family on March 26, 2016. She was born on May 19, 1919 in Enfield, CT, a daughter of the late Frank and Anna Zawada.

She graduated from Enfield High School and the Connecticut Institute of Hairdressing in 1937. Jo operated Jo's Beauty Salon in Rockville, CT for over 50 years. She was active in the Polish Falcons serving as President of District VIII and Nest 401 in Enfield, CT for over 25 years. In 1965 she received an award from the Chamber of Commerce for outstanding work in the Polish Falcons including forming physical fitness classes for members. Jo belonged to AARP 3062 and the University of the Third Age in Enfield, CT. She attended St. Joseph's Church, Rockville, CT and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and traveling. In 2013 she moved to Cape Coral, FL to reside with her daughter.

Widow of Fred Zielski to whom she was married to for 50 years, she is survived by her loving daughter, Joanne Ferguson and her husband, Michael of Cape Coral, FL, her cherished grandchildren, Tracey Mannix of North Brookfield, Scott Northup of Cape Coral, FL, her granddaughter in-law, Shannon Mannix and her cherished great granddaughter, Ashlyn Perro. She also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Wanda Miller, Jenny Dell'Aquilla and Julia Cygan and her brother, Frank Zawada.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11:00 am in St. Mary Church, 70 Church Street, West Warwick.  Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.  Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
