James F. Martin, Jr.

MARTIN, James F., Jr., 72, of Mishnock Road, West Greenwich, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 surrounded by his loving family and friends. 

Born in Providence, a son of the late James F. and Viola (Laramee) Martin.

Jim graduated from Bishop Hendricken High School in 1962 and received a scholarship to Villanova University where he graduated in 1966 with a degree in mechanical engineering.  He spent many years traveling the world with his job and retired from FM Global in Johnston.  During his retirement days, he enjoyed nature, designing wood projects and building beautiful furniture.

He is survived by a brother, Kevin T. Martin and his wife Barbara in Arizona and many wonderful nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.  A special place in his heart will be held for his long-time companion, Lillian Phillips-Hatch of Coventry who was by his side throughout his journey.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the special caregivers at VNA Care New England Hospice who provided amazing compassion and support during Jim’s final days.
