SZYDLO, Claire F. (St. Amand), 97, formerly of Coventry, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Scalabrini Villa Nursing Home in North Kingstown.

She was the loving wife of the late Thomas F. Szydlo for 56 years.  Born in Coventry, she was the daughter of the late Emeric and Delia (Levesque) St. Amand. She was predeceased by her beloved son, James R. Szydlo, brothers, Emeric, Emilian, Alex, Cyprien, Ovide and Rudolph St. Amand and sisters, Eva MacDonald and Alice Simone.

Claire is survived by her daughter, Janet L. Saccoccia and her husband Henry of North Kingstown; a daughter-in-law, Judith Szydlo of Coventry; grandchildren, Kimberly and Michael Saccoccia, Jody Neuville and Jeffrey Szydlo; great grandchildren, Brittny and Dustin Neuville and Ariana Saccoccia; a sister, Diane Ferretti of Coventry and several nieces and nephews.

Claire worked for many years in the garment industry for Davidson Brothers in West Warwick and for Weybosset Pure Food Market in East Greenwich.  She was best known as the Avon lady winning many awards as one of the top sales representatives.  She was even mentioned in USA TODAY paper for her accomplishment.

After retiring, Claire and Tom enjoyed traveling and were known as the Royal Travelers visiting many countries, spending time in Maine and taking short trips to the Cape.

For many years, she volunteered weekly at SS. John & Paul Parish.  She would also visit relatives and friends in nursing homes, bringing them home make brownies or cookies.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 10:00 am in SS. John & Paul Church, 341 South Main St., Coventry.  Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick.  Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.  Please omit flowers, contributions may be made to the Scalabrini Staff Appreciation Fund or the Scalabrini Chapel, both located at 860 North Quidnessett Rd., North Kingstown, RI 02852 would be appreciated.
