DODD, Claire A., formerly of West Warwick, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 at Brentwood Nursing Home, Warwick.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Haydn and Roseala (Brouillard) Dodd. She was a resident of West Warwick for most of her life.
Claire was the owner/operator of Dodd’s Transportation & Warehouse for many years before retiring. She was the first woman appointed to the Board of Directors for the RI Truck Owner's Association.
Claire was her happiest when spending time with her grandsons. They were the light of her life. She enjoyed entertaining whether it be clambakes at the beach house or her well-known Labor Day Parade parties.
She is survived by a daughter, Lyn (Gibeault) Bernadyn of Coventry and two grandsons, Tyler and Trevor Bernadyn. She was the mother-in-law of the late Mark Bernadyn and sister of the late Dorothy E. Mello.
She was a communicant of SS Peter and Paul Church. Claire was involved in many organizations such as the WW Lions, WW Girls Softball, Christmas Is and NEADS to name a few. She will be remembered for her generosity, love of community, fund-raising efforts, hard work and dedication as well as her willingness to assist others.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 10:00 am from the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy Street, West Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in SS. Peter & Paul Church, 48 Highland Street, West Warwick. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Warwick. Visiting hours Tuesday 4:00-7:00 pm.
